Important questions for a weightloss journey

1.      Why do you want to lose weight?
I want to lose weight so I can feel like myself. Right now, I feel like a 120lb Black girl with big hair and a fashion sense that could rival Anne Wintour. In reality, I am a 294 lb Black girl with a short curly afro who wears t-shirts and jeans. I also want to be healthy, be happy, and not afraid to go on an airplane or amusement park rides and worry I will not fit. I just want to be normal and have skinny girl problems for once. I want to lose weight because I do not want people staring at this double chin or belly anymore. I want to lose weight to be myself.
2.      What are you motivators?
My Motivators for weight loss:
1.      I want to be healthy.
2.      I want to fit into something H&M sells.
3.      I want my family to be proud of me.
3.      Are you ready with failure?
I am ready for it. I know it will happen but positive realistic thinking will turn that into success.
4.      Are you in it for the long run?
I am committed to getting fit for life.
5.      Who are you doing it for?
Myself, and most importantly my future children.
6.      Are you ready to make sacrifices?
Yes. Even if that means I have to give up my Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.
7.      Will you be happy with small success?
Of course, any success, no matter how big or small, will be good.

Welcome: This is my journey

My name is Ashley. I am a twenty-something African American woman who has struggle with weight all my life. I love blogs (currently I am following natural hair blogs and of course weight loss/fitness blogs) and decided to create my own. You see, I live a very unhappy life. Over the past two years, I have gained 100 pounds. Currently, I weigh 294lbs. With a BMI 43.5, I want to become the Ashley I know I can be. This Ashley commits to everything she sets out to do.

In the past, I would start then fail 3 hours later. My mind just was not there for it. However, I am there now. I am ready to get rid of this weight and negatively. There will be no sugar coating here. I will not try to make myself look better. You will see my ups AND downs. You will probably see me fail but it is the getting up, dusting off the failure, and trying again that counts. I plan to follow the Couch to 5k program, the slim in 6 DVDs, and will use the help of sparkpeople and the blog Black Girl's guide to Weight loss. I will start my change May 30. Until then I will posting more questions about myself, so you and I can understand me better. I will be posting at least once a day until the 30th then at that point; I will be posting 2x a day. I will be posting each morning and evening. Sometimes (like this first post) it will be in an off-hour.

PS- Sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes. I promise to improve my writing.
This is going to be an amazing journey for myself and I am happy to share it with you.
